MOM!!! Justice Just…..

peed in the kitty litter box. Yup, never a dull moment. When asked why she did it she said “cause Kyra was using the toilet and I had to pee really bad.” Gee, did it ever cross your mind to use the other bathroom? Don’t fight the madness, just embrace it.

Running a 5k

In April I joined a local running group that was training together to run a 5k in June. We basically were following the c25k program. I was really excited and actually was tolerating enjoying it. I made it up to about 2.5 or 3 miles doing 2/1 intervals (run 2 minutes walk 1 minute). I was actually looking forward to running.

Then, one morning while running around to get ready for the day it all came to an end. I remember it clearly, it was my daughter’s first day of summer camp, I had to be at class to turn in workbefore going to a students funeral who died two days after graduation in a car accident. I was stressed and not paying attention. Was running back and forth between the living room helping Justice and the bathroom trying to get myself ready. I ran my pinky toe into the corner of the bed. I screamed, fell on the bed and just laid there. My husband came in to see what was wrong. He told me to look at my toe and check it. I refused, I did not want to see it. I had hit my toes before, but I knew this was something different. Finally I looked down at it and it was hanging off to the side. I finished getting ready, got my daughter to camp and work turned in at school. We then headed to the emergency room. Now, I’m not the type to go to the emergency room for a broken toe, but I promise you it looked something awful, hanging at about a 45 degree angle. After examination and x-rays, I found out it was dislocated and broken. Once back in place and ready to go, I was told that it would be a minimum of 6 weeks before I could even think about running again. Six weeks has come and gone, I am ready to get started again. I am hoping I am ready. It still is not quite all the way healed, I’m not sure it ever will be.

So, here I am putting it out there, holding myself accountable, it’s time to start running again.

4th of July

We took a mini vacation over the 4th. We headed up to Charlotte to stay at my mom’s house Friday morning. Friday evening was pretty uneventful, just hung out and drove around Charlotte. Sat. morning my mom had to work so Khari and I took the girls to Tiger World.  After buying food to feed the animals we started out on our adventure. Although, called Tiger World, there were lots of other animals. This place was my youngest daughter, Justice’s dream world. As we were walking around you could here “screaming” coming from the baboons cage. There was a male and female baboon. The male was very irritated about something. As we were standing there he took off running towards us and attacked the cage.

Watching the tigers playing in the water was my favorite part.

Of course, no trip would be complete without a fight over the food.

Sat. night my mom watched the girls so hubby and I could go out to dinner. We actually got dressed up (ok, dressed up for us)  and headed to Chimas, a Brazillian steakhouse. Talk about delicious! I am not much of a steak eater, but the Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon absolutely melted in my mouth!

Sunday we headed up to the French Broad River for tubing (will post a new entry with pics and story when the water camera is developed).

After a long day Sunday, we decided to take it easy and head up to Lake Norman for the day. Unfortunately, the camera and sunblock were not brought. The girls survived without a problem. Me, if I had a blue stripe to add to me, I’d look like the U.S. Flag.
